A note about your child's privacy

BrightBuddy is a personal hobby project shared with family and friends — not a company or a public service. Even so, it's used by children, so here's a plain, honest note about what it does with your child's information and how you stay in control.

You're in control

You set up the account. Your child never signs up themselves and never types in an email or password. From your grown-ups area you can see your child's data, delete their profile, and turn features on or off, whenever you like.

We collect as little as possible about your child

Just their first name, their year group, the mode they use, and a 4-digit PIN. No surname, no date of birth, no photos, no home address, no location.

What the app saves as your child practises

Their answers and progress, a daily mood check-in (they tap an emoji), rewards, and mock-test results — so their learning is saved and picks up where they left off. If the optional AI helper is on, their chats with it are kept briefly and then deleted.

The AI helper ("Buddy") is optional

Buddy is off unless you switch it on. When it's on, everything it says is checked for safety before your child sees it, and you can switch it off again at any time.

No ads, no selling data, no tracking

BrightBuddy shows no adverts, doesn't sell anyone's information, and doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your child's data is used only to run their learning in the app.

Trying it as a guest

If you play the taster at /try without an account, we don't ask you for any personal details — no name, no email, no account — and your answers aren't saved. Two small things are kept, and only these. First, the optional feedback at the end: your rating and your comment (please don't put any names or personal details in that box), which are deleted automatically after 180 days. Second, a set of running daily totals — how many people started the taster, answered a question, finished a set, asked for an invite — with nothing that identifies you or singles you out; it's just counts, so we can see whether people are enjoying it. We also briefly check your network address to stop abuse, but we don't store it.

Deleting everything

Delete your child's profile and it disappears from the app straight away; the underlying data is permanently erased within about a month.

Questions?

Just ask me directly — I'm the person running this, and I know you. If you're ever uncomfortable with anything, tell me and I'll sort it or delete the account.
